Rural and Agricultural Finance Program (IFAD) and Ghana Government Program(2010 – 2016)

As part of Ghana’s Growth and Poverty Reduction Strategy, the Government of Ghana launched a Rural and Agricultural Finance Programme (RAFiP) with the overall goal to support improved and sustainable livelihoods of the rural poor, particularly women and vulnerable groups. The programme aimed to enhance the rural and agricultural population’s ability to finance productive as well as household activities by improving their access to sustainable financial services through enhanced outreach, sustainability and linkages, with a focus on agricultural value chains, women, the poor and other vulnerable groups in rural areas. The programme provided capacity building for Rural Microfinance Institutions using the various the Microfinance Associations as key implementing agencies and GHAMFIN as the Umbrella body and the Network that supervises those activities of the Association.
